THE HISTORY OF A NAME WITH A VIEW
More than 200 years later, the village of Fairbank and Sprucegrove Farm are gone, but not forgotten. Today, the monikers are honoured and commemorated in the world of business.
What’s in a name? Quite a bit it seems, especially if the name is Fairbank, originally a small community centred around Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue. Fairbank stretched north, eventually becoming part of the Township of York (the small township that remained when North York was formed in 1922), the Borough of York, then the City of York, which was eventually amalgamated into the City of Toronto.
